Kyocera, Fully Charged
Design Challenge: CTIA, was quickly approaching, and along with it the opportunity for Kyocera to make important competitive inroads. Our quest: to produce, a vibrant, dynamic and distinctive design language for Kyocera's product line of the future, one that would get them, quite literally, the ears of pivotal decision makers worldwide.
Design Solution: We began the brainstorming process by identifying the next contemporary design trends: the non-perpendicular line and the thick-to-thin transitioning stroke. Then we originated a striking form terminology for Kyocera that had never been witnessed before.
From this visual foundation we developed our "Simple Rules" product offerings: the "Ear-Ring," a push-to-talk phone whose form fits securely and comfortably around the ear; the “Ring Phone," a slender design with split display that treats mobile video in a new way, and, in the most revolutionary foray, an "Active Wall Tile Accessory System," which is comprised of a matrix of components for the home and office that connect to the phones for recharging, data transfer and display.
