Simulated Interactive Universe: Heart. Finger. City
Design Challenge: What does the landscape of the future look like? How can we improve the next generation simulation experience? These were the questions that launched Digitalis. Our challenge was to explore and improve the concept-testing experience.
Design Solution: The basis for our design solution became one of the most intriguing and innovative aspects of the project. Through research and brainstorming, the concept of the human body as a roadmap or interactive terrain was developed. The contours of the inside of the heart and the muscles of the arm led to the creation of a rich, futuristic environment that was both delicately complex and emotionally compelling.
We designed this modular, 3D interactive universe to be used when modeling or concept-testing an operation/navigation scenario, or simply as a selection of environments to highlight a project. The richness of the Digitalis environment allows designers to put their concepts in a compelling context that matches the design of the concept vehicles. This makes for more accurate testing, as well as a more balanced showcase for the designs. Sometimes function follows form.
