Two new creative BMW Group satellites in Shanghai: New studio of DesignworksUSA and Connected Drive Lab.
Fully recognizing China's tremendous significance as a driver for creativity, the BMW Group opens a Designworks studio and a Connected Drive Lab in Shanghai. Both innovation centers will reside under the same roof in Shanghai's Huangpu District, former French Concession. The new design studio will bring the invaluable insights from the Chinese market to further inform DesignworksUSA's global perspective, provide entry into the Asian market for its European and North American clients, and bring new international client partnerships and opportunities to the region.

DesignworksUSA creates one-of-a-kind wearable art piece to benefit A + D Museum
Avid automotive fans know that BMW Group often decals its development vehicles with a unique camouflage of kaleidoscoping black and white swirls. Its purpose is to obscure details of the vehicle’s finished appearance, while also hinting at the new model’s approximate shape and proportions to stir interest and curiosity. BMW Group DesignworksUSA has now created a similar effect for the body by creating a one-of-a-kind wearable art piece, entitled Yearning: Camouflaged Beauty

Future Models of Urban Mobility Panel
Adrian Corry as guest speaker at the panel
On April 5th, Adrian Corry, Senior Consultant Strategic Partnering, attended the panel about future models of urban mobility in Toronto. Adrian says that different technologies are necessary when planning transit strategies. In order to get people out of their cars and into transit, the experience must improve. "People are used to riding in their cars. They have their sense of being in control," he continues. Essentially, public transit must be able to compete with this in order to make trading in your car for the subway the more attractive option.
DesignworksUSA is sustainability advisor for Ecodesign Award initiated by German Ministry for the Environment
Award to raise awareness and inspire sustainable design.
DesignworksUSA was invited to participate on the advisory council for the development of the Ecodesign Award. The Ecodesign Award is an initiative of the German Ministry for the Environment. Its main goal is to offer better orientation in the complex field of sustainability, to inspire sustainable design thinking and bring the subject to a broader public.

Magnus Aspegren presents at the World Brand Congress 2011
Magnus Aspegren, Director Singapore Studio, spoke at the World Brand Congress Conclave 2011. The Congress was held at Taj Land's End on the 25th and 26th of November in Mumbai in India and was attended by over 1000 CMOs, Brand Custodians, Marketing Heads and other top echelons of Brand Experts across the World. The presentation was part of "Designomics", focusing on the benefits of design as a strategic tool for global brands.
