Art of Elysium Design Workshop at Shriner’s Children Hospital
DesignworksUSA creates a design workshop for Shriner’s Children Hospital

Three of our automotive designers: Nick Gronenthal, Page Beermann, and Richard Kim, and one of our modeling sculptors, Nick Berry, had the opportunity to spend time with children from the Shriners’ Hospital, Los Angeles for an afternoon on Tuesday, February 16. Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization that encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions, recently announced a partnership with BMW North America. The designers started by handing out pens, pencils, and sketch pads and encouraged the kids to draw their favorite car. The children were very receptive to the challenge, and vigorously sketched away. Each of the designers gave simple tips and techniques to help the children along. After the sketches were complete, the designers handed out clay to translate the sketch into a 3D model to illustrate the process of automotive design.
